İskender (Alexander) Kebap



Alexander Kebap is one of the most famous kebaps in the world. There are many restaurants which make only this food because it is very special and important for Turkish people. Although it is a very special food and one of the most delicious kebap types, you can make it in your kitchen with some effort :) Here is the recipe :


Ingredients:
1. Two large pieces of steak.
2. 200 grams mincemeat (Turkish : kiyma).
3. Four small pieces of thin bread(Turkish : pide) (about 500 grams).
4. Salt and black pepper.

First mix mincemeat with salt and pepper. Then give it a shape like steaks and put mincemeat mixture between the steak pieces.
Cover this meat with plastic and put it into freezer. Next day wait for 45 minutes before cutting. With a knife, cut this meat into very thin pieces (like in the picture). And fry these pieces in a large saucepan, but don't fry too much, they can get burned since they are very thin.
Meanwhile cut the bread pieces to thinner pieces and divide them to four dishes. Put the meat you fried on the bread. And put ketchup or tomatoes sauce you prepared before (hand made tomatoes sauce is preferred). Finally put a few spoons of yoghurt to the empty part of plate. And service your Iskender Kebap while it is hot.
